Fall Fashion Favorites

I've said it once and I will say it a thousand times; I LOVE fall fashion.
Like I said last week, fall fashion is great because it doubles as outerwear so there's no need to cover up an amazing sweater with a puffy jacket and huge scarf like we will be doing in a few short months. So while we can still enjoy this beautiful season for a few more weeks, I wanted to share some of my fall fashion favorites from this year!

Plaid
I love this pattern for fall, although it is probably as creative as florals for spring,
I think it's a look that will always be around and is also always changing. This season I love colorful button downs and scarves. They are perfect for layering and flannels are good to transition into winter!

Vests
What goes perfectly with a plaid button down? An adorable vest! I love jcrew's classic quilted vests but honestly, I don't know too many people who are willing to drop $120 on one. Luckily last year I found the perfect look-a-like vest at old navy for $34 in a variety of different colors. I have one in army green and I wear it all the time. You can also find tons of monogrammed ones (like the one below) on etsy!

BOOTS
Boots are just the best, don't fight me on this. There are so many different kinds of boots that can totally change any outfit. I probably have too many boots but I always want to buy more! The perfect pair of rain boots can turn a lazy rainy day outfit super cute without tying and riding boots with leggings are not only super comfortable, but they can also make even an over sized crewneck sweatshirt look fashionable when you're dragging yourself to a morning class. Bean boots are pretty pricey but I think they're a great investment for fall and winter and they look awesome with some cute socks and a pair of jeggings.

Elbow Patches
I just love this little touch to a classic sweater. My favorite piece of clothing I own this season is my JCrew elbow patch sweater but for a cheaper option there are tons of DIY tutorials so you can make your own!

Scarves
Scarves are the perfect accessory for the fall. You can make any outfit new just by adding a different scarf to it. I have 20 something scarves in my room right now. I really really love chunky knit ones like this one from aerie that I'm probably going to buy myself (even though I don't need it but I need it. ja feel?)

Lazy Hairstyles
If you're wearing a big scarf I think that it is so much easier to just put my hair up and I love these high pony tails with simple ribbons in them. They are a cute little spin on what can be a pretty boring hair style. Messy buns are also great because they require no effort. I also love these easy styles done by my favorite youtuber Zoella

Big Sweaters
I love love love big sweater. Not only are they comfortable but they look so much better than just wearing the same hoodie to class everyday. Throw on a big statement necklace and you instantly have an adorable look with hardly any effort at all.

So there are some of my favorites from this season. What are some of yours? Let me know in the comments!

Making The Most Out Of Fall

Fall is a magical time. To be honest the only thing I don’t like about fall is that I can sometimes take it for granted, then I'm stuck thinking of all the fun things I could have done when I'm snowed in in December.
So here are some ways that you can make the most out of these beautiful fall days.

Study outside!
Find a spot on campus that you love and go there as much as possible. In a few weeks you'll be stuck in your dorm room of the library wishing that you could be outside. It's so much more relaxing and who doesn’t love people watching?? I just recently found a spot on our quad that I love and I actually wrote most of this post from there!

Go into the city!
Honestly you can go into the city whenever you want but who really wants to be walking up and down Newbury street when its freezing and you have to dodge snow piles? Especially in Boston the fall is amazing. Spend the day shopping on Newbury or Quincy Market or just hang out in the Public Gardens. I cannot stress how important this is.

Dress nice!
Fall is great because you can wear cute outfits without having to cover them up with a coat. I hate when I'm wearing a great outfit but the only people who see it are the ones I have class with because I'm so bundled up in the winter walking to class. Take advantage of this opportunity and wear all of your favorite outfits. Save the yoga pants and hoodies for finals week or cold gloomy winter days.

Do all the "cheesy" fall activities
You only have a short window of time that you can go apple picking or drink Pumpkin Spiced Lattes so do it! Sure people mock the fact that we all flock to apple orchards but who cares? Get a group of friends together, look hella cute, take pictures and post them everywhere just to rub it in peoples faces that you have dozens of delicious apples and apple cider donuts and they don't.

Halloween movies
Okay so I HATE scary movies and I would much rather watch 25 days of Christmas on ABCFamily but they are some pretty great Halloween movies that you should be watching every year. Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown, The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, Edward Sissorhands and of course the perfect movie to transition into the holiday season, Nightmare Before Christmas. Obviously you can watch all the horror movies you want but you won't find any recommendations for those here sorry!

What are some of your favorite things to do in the fall? Let me know in the comments!

Sophomore Year Dorm Room

Okay so obviously I've been at school for a month now but Lea and I have not gotten the motivation to take pictures and stuff for a full tour of our suite. I did however want to make a post about my side of the room this year because I'm kind of obsessed with it.

(These pictures were taken on move in day so its already a little different. I have some more posters up and I was finally able to find Christmas lights!)

My quilt was made by my amazing mom last year before I started school and it is 100% my favorite thing.
I have a few canvas quote paintings thanks to my large amount of free time this summer

My favorite thing on my desk has to be the jewelry box that I painted and updated myself this summer.

I have a small space for my make up and accessories where I was able to use command hooks to hang up my necklaces (because we all know that I have an obsession with them).

Shout out to pinterest and boredom/unemployment this summer for giving me the inspiration and time to make way too many DIY decor pieces! I love our suite, it is so much better than my tiny corner of a room last year  >>>

I'm actually getting ready to go home for the first time since I moved in. I'm going to spend the long weekend with my family for my mom's birthday and I'm so excited to sleep in my own bed and eat normal food!

See you next week!

Why We Love Fall

First off, happy October everyone!  The season of pumpkin spice, apple cinnamon, and scarfs is among us and in full swing.

Here's my top reasons for holding the months of Fall close to my heart.

Tights

Not sure if it's because it means I no longer have to shave my legs or what. Tights are comfy and dress up a simple dress like you wouldn't believe.

It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!
This is my favorite Halloween special of all time. Linus teaches us the great wonder of the Great Pumpkin (btw he's expected to appear in 27 days!)

Pumpkin Coffee
SUCH BASIC
FYI: I am actually a basic white girl

Darker Hair
ugh I need red hair again but like upkeep SUCKS.
This time of year is when I generally shed my light brown/highlighter hair to red or dark brown. I'm obsessed with my bright red fall hair.

Crewnecks

I think I own about six crewneck sweaters and they are my absolute favorite lazy day clothing. Comfy, warm, and everyone gets to see which bands I listen to. Such fab.

New England

I will always be a New England girl and will always consider New England my home. Fall here is the most beautiful event and it truly makes me stop and gawk at the trees each and every year.

Emo Music

Sad music is just in style this time of year aka great news for me.

...and most importantly
SUMMER IS OVER
NO MORE SWEAT
NO MORE SHAVING DAILY
NO MORE CONSTANT TOP KNOT BUN

Happy Autumn,
Much Love,
Lea

I Woke Up Like This - Surviving Cold Season in College

Fellow college students, nothing is worse than waking up for a morning class am I right? Wrong. Waking up with a cold while your at school is much worse. I know that when I'm sick I just want to be home, I want my mom to make me soup and I just want to lay on my couch and sleep forever. Unfortunately in college you don't always have that luxury. So what can you do to make these sick days a little less miserable? Here are some of my tips:

1. Go to Class (if you can)
Okay I know this sounds stupid but just hear me out. Obviously if you are throwing up and stuff then it's time to use common sense and stay in bed, but if you wake up with a cold then skipping class is not worth it in the long run. Why? Because eventually you're going to feel much better and the last thing you're going to want to be doing is make up work. Also why waste one of your skips when you can save them for later in the semester?  I never said you have to look like a super model when you go to class, wear yogas and sweatshirts. No one is going to judge you, and I'm sure they would do the same if they were in your shoes.

2. Have the perfect movie line up
Thanks to sites like Netflix and Hulu it is so easy to stay in bed all day and watch movies or binge watch a whole season of Parks And Recreation. (after class) curl up in bed with your laptop and call it a day. Some of my favorite sick day movies are:
Pirates of the Caribbean (all of them)
Crazy Stupid Love
27 Dresses
any 80's movie
basically any Johnny Depp movie
all of the Harry Potter movies
3. Comfort food
Although  you may not have your moms homemade chicken soup, there are a few must haves that you should keep in your dorm room to help you out.
Ice Cream - sore throats SUCK and honestly do you really need an excuse to eat ice cream?

Coffee/hot chocolate/tea - nothing makes me fee cozzier than a hot white chocolate mocha. I'm not sure if this really will help with your cold but I know that it make me feel better
Orange Juice/water - I sound like your mom but OJ helps with colds. Don't believe me? Google it.
Chicken Soup - do I really need to explain this?

4. SLEEP
This may be hard for us to understand but going to bed at 2AM is not good any day and it's really not great if you're sick. Go to bed early, I'm sure your roommates will understand. Trust me whatever show you're worried about missing will be online in the morning.

5. Dayquil and Niquil are your new best friends
Seriously people this may seem like a no brainer but you really should have a box of each in your dorm room. Nothing is worse than having to leave your bed and put on real clothes just to go to the store and buy medicine.

Well I'm gonna go and take my own advice because I was lucky enough to wake up sick this morning!
Hope none of you need to do the same but if so, I hope you enjoy your netflix marathon,
