April Favorites

Happy May! We have finally made it out of the longest winter ever and in a few days I will officially be on summer break! April has been a crazy busy month but here are some of my favorites! :)

American Candy
Okay so technically this album came out in March but because it came out on the 31st I'm going to count it for this month. ITS SO GOOD. I mean I'm obviously biased because The Maine are my favorite band/people so I'm obviously going to love it. But it's seriously an amazing album guys. I have friends who have started listening to The Maine because of this album or they've gone back to listening to them. After being a band for like 8 years, it's crazy to me that they were able to make an album that perfectly combines their ever-changing sound from 2009 until today. I get to see them on Tuesday and I can't wait to hear these new songs live. My personal favorites are (un)lost, My Hair, American Candy and Am I Pretty.

The Grace Helbig Show
Another one of my favorite people did a thing this month too! Grace Helbig (youtuber/spirit animal/amazing human) is now on TV! Her show The Grace Helbig Show premiered on E! earlier this month and it is everything to me. It combines mainstream celebrities with internet celebrities in the funniest ways and it's really awesome. Grace is beautiful and hilarious and you should just watch this show and all of her videos on YouTube if you haven't already. (it's on tonight with Hilary Duff and Shane Dawson at 10:30)

Pastel Nails
I know what you're thinking; "wow pastels for spring how creative" but just calm down. I have a new obsession with pastel nails and I want it to be a thing not only in the spring, but I also want the trend to carry on into summer. Why? Because these colors look really great with a tan but they're still tame enough that they won't clash with every outfit you wear (like brights and neons will). Just trust me on this.

Crops and Skirts

As someone who doesn't wear a lot of crop tops but really wants to wear a lot of crop tops, I can really get behind this matchy-matchy crop and skirt trend that’s happening. It's very 90's but in the best way possible. I mean I'm all for pretending to be Kelly Kapowski.

#ootd Stressed But Well Dressed - Surviving Finals

Top - Vineyard Vines
Pants - Aerie
Bow - Sailbows
Shoes- Sperry
Sunglasses - Charming Charlie

In college, the last few weeks of the year are THE WORST. Not only do you have tons of work, room draw, registration, and packing to do BUT the weather is also super nice. So instead of being able to lay out on the quad and tan, or shop on Newbury Street, you're probably in the library about to rip your hair out. I know I am!
What gets me through these tough weeks is having a good outfit. If I like my outfit I generally have a more positive attitude towards my day.
Look good, feel good, ya know?.
This kind of outfit is my go-to for finals week.
Vineyard Vines makes the most comfortable men's T shirts and I can't stress how important they are to me. Yoga crops and running shorts are blessings as well, and adding a bow is always a good idea.
All in all, I had a pretty stressful day of classes and group meetings but I survived without feeling too miserable so maybe you will too?

Good luck and may the odds be ever in your favor my fellow sad college students!

March Favorites

Hard to believe that March is already behind us but I would be lying if I said I wasn't happy to see it go. I'm very ready for Spring and warmer weather, but not the amount of work April is going to bring! March did however bring some great things so here are some of my favorites!

After seeing Maleficent this summer and falling in love with it, I was really excited to see this new live-action version of Cinderella and I was not let down. Lea and I went to see it the night it came out and our only complaint about it was that it had to end. Everything was beautiful to look at from the costumes to the prince. They even gave Prince Kitt a name and personality for once which was nice. We are totally obsessed.

Aerie's 2015 Swim
Although it's still pretty cold where we are, March is the time for bathing suits to go on sale and this year I am totally in love with Aerie's swim line. They are perfect for mixing and matching and because they are from Aerie, they go by your bra size so you know it will be the perfect fit!

Catfish And The Bottlemen
It's always important to have a friend with a music taste you can trust so they can recommend new bands to you all the time. For me that is my best friend Emily and the newest band she's turned me on to is Catfish And The Bottlemen. They have an indie/alternative rock sound similar to The Wombats and Walk The Moon and they have been on repeat for the last two weeks on my phone.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmitt

Netflix is great and Netlfix originals are even better. Especially when they are written by Tina Fey. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmitt is the funniest show I have seen in a while and I watched the whole first season in about 2 days… If you haven't yet then you need to check it out!

Happy April!

New Music You Should Be Listening To

Is this thing on..? Remember us? Lately Lea and I have had really bad writers block and with midterms and spring break, blogging has fallen off the to do list... But we still love you and will be back on a more regular schedule soon.

In the meantime, March has been full of amazing new music and instead of waiting until my March favorites at the end of the month, I wanted to share what I've been listening to lately.

Mumford & Sons - Believe
MUMFORD IS FINALLY BACK and with a new sound that is so so great.

The Wombats - Just Give Me A Try
The Wombats are always awesome but this song is perfect for driving around with the windows down

Sam Smith ft. John Legend - Lay Me Down
This song is so beautiful and I'm obsessed.

Big Sean ft. Drake - Blessings

Cashmere Cat ft. Ariana Grande - Adore
You didn't really think I could make it through one of these posts without bringing up Ariana at least once did you?

The Maine - Miles Away
The Maine's new album is out on March 31st and every single that comes out just makes me more and more excited for it! Definitely their best yet.

Have a great first weekend of spring! (Even though it's currently snowing outside my window)

February Favorites

How is it already March 2nd?? February felt even shorter than it already is and as you can tell from our lack of posts, we have been pretty busy around here. All of our snow days have everyone running around like crazy trying to catch up in classes and make up for lost time and blogging kinda fell off the to do list... We are planning a few really great posts though so look out for them!
In the mean time, here are are few of my favorites from February :)

I don't understand why so many of my favorite shows are ending this year but luckily the finale of Parks And Rec didn't leave me bawling my eyes out like Parenthood did. The finale was perfect and tied up so many lose ends while still leaving plenty of Easter eggs and callbacks to different running jokes on the show. If you haven't yet, you need to binge watch the whole series on netflix, you wont regret it I promise.

Everyone was talking about 50 shades of grey this month but I'm still laughing at this amazing buzzfeed article…

The Last Five Years
At the beginning of the month, The Last Five Years came out online and in some theaters and if you're a fan of musicals or Anna Kendrick you need to watch it asap. It's not the happiest of stories but the way it was adapted from the stage to a feature film is really beautiful and the music is awesome.

Lauren Conrad's Cinderella collection
Obviously I'm obsessed with Lauren Conrad and Disney so it should be no surprise to anyone that I was at Kohl's trying on everything from this collection this weekend. All of the dresses are so girly and pretty, I love the colors and the lightness of everything. I ended up buying this top for myself but I plan on going back for a few more things before the collection is gone!

I don’t know if anyone could watch this video without a smile on their face.

Happy March!

2015 Grammys Fashion

Award season is in full swing people!! In case you live under a rock and didn't know, the Grammy's were last night and as usual the fashions were just as interesting as the performances. Here's our best and worst dressed and some honorable mentions.

Gwen Stefani in Atelier Versace
We had a mini viewing party last night and everyone was already in love with this look before we even saw that it was pants! This new pant trend is catching on very quickly and when it's done right it looks amazing and I wouldn't expect anything less from Gwen!

Other Favorites:

Ariana Grande in Versace
Obviously I'm 100% biased since I love everything this girl does but both of her dresses last night were really different for her and made her look like the 21 year old woman she is, not a 15 year old Nickelodeon star.

I'm just really proud of her guys.

Taylor Swift in Elie Saab
I am obsessed with this whole look! The shape of the dress is super unique and the shoes are amazing. Her hair was perfect and I'm basically in love with everything about this.

Beyonce in Proenza Schouler
She was the one everyone was waiting for on the carpet and she did not disappoint! Do I even have to explain why we love this?

Madonna in custom Givenchy
Okay I get it, she's Madonna, but that doesn't excuse this at all. I could not hate it anymore than I do.

More Misses:

Charlie XCX in Moschino
No. Just no. I hate everything from her hair to th bathroom rug she has wrapped around her. On what planet is this okay?

Rihanna in Giambattista Valli
If it were this dress in another color, or another dress in this color, it would be ok. But it looks like a bad prom dress that someone shoved 4 more prom dresses underneath and it's HORRIBLE.

Jenny Lewis

Honorable Mentions:

Pharell's shout out to Esteban Julio Ricardo Montoya De La Rosa Ramirez

Lady Gaga (actually looking like a normal person) and KILLING her performance with Tony Bennett

Hozier's man bun because man buns are so important

What were some of your favorite looks? Are you team Beck or team Kanye? How bad do you think Sam Smith's ex feels today? Let us know in the comments!

January Favorites

It's crazy to think that January is over! Between winter break and the start of my second semester, this month has been a busy one for sure. Here are some of my January favorites!

skinny sweatpants*
*Only if you can find the right pair.
I had to try on 5 different kinds at Aerie before finding good ones. They are perfect for weekend brunch, study days or netflix marathons. I wear mine with a long sleeve t and mocs but they also look great with a zippered hoodie and sneakers!
Maroon 5's video for Sugar
This video is so cute but I'm obviously biased since I'm obsessed with weddings and Adam Levin but it's still worth a watch. Whether you think it's staged or not, you can't deny that it's adorable.

Adidas women's response boost running shoes
What better way to force yourself into keeping that new year's resolution than a new pair of sneakers? I bought these for myself as a little late Christmas present and I love them so much. They're super comfy and the bright color adds a little pep to what can be a pretty dull workout.
I Am The Locker Room Guy
I honestly couldn't care less about football even though I'm from New England but I care a lot about this video.

Parenthood's final episode
NBC's show Parenthood came to an end this month. It was an amazing show from the start and the season finale was one of the best finales I have ever seen. If you're looking for a new show to binge on Netflix, here's my recommendation.

#ootd Winter Ball 2015

Last night was our winter semi formal and after a long week of being snowed in with slow wifi and jersey shore marathons, it was actually nice to trade in my sweatpants for a new dress. We braved the cold and the snow (in heels) and had a pretty great night. We need more excuses to dress up!

(What I wore: dress - Forever21 shoes - DSW nails - Essie)

Keep an eye out for my January favorites tomorrow!

SNOW DAY (surviving the blizzard of 2015)

We have been stuck in the middle of this blizzard since yesterday and our classes were just cancelled for tomorrow so we figured we're kind of snow day experts right now. Here's our tips to beat snow day boredom and keep yourself from going too stir crazy!

This really goes without saying but netflix is too important to keep off this list. Some recommendations from us are: Gossip Girl, Friends, any Disney classic or a bad Lifetime movie. (We would be doing this IF WE HAD WORKING WIFI but dvds work just as well I guess).

We for whatever reason decided to be productive members of society this morning and cleaned our room (including vacuuming). Now it just looks really nice and it made us feel less like lazy assholes who have not moved from our beds since.

Play in the snow!
Before the storm got too crazy last night, a group of us threw on a ton of layers and played in the snow like a bunch of 7 year olds. It was really fun and generally just a great excuse to get out of our dorm rooms for a while. *Bonus points if you can get a huge group of people together for an epic snowball fight at an ungodly hour.

Stay safe out there and if you live on campus enjoy your shovel-free day!
